Description
Founded in 2019, Samaritan Housing provides immediate crisis housing for women and women with children with Delaware Division of State Service Center housing voucher approval after emergencies such as house fires have left them homeless. Unlike earlier motel vouchers only for rooms, the eight-unit, 23-bed Samaritan Housing provides up to 28 days of clean, safe housing along with meals, access to medical and dental care, mental health care, child care, job training/placement, help finding housing, free furniture and home goods and services of an intake coordinator, case manager, resident manager and program director. Opened in 2019, Samaritan Housing served 113 households before 2020s end, with 81 percent achieving stabilized living situations.
