Malta House is the only home for pregnant women above the age of 18 in Fairfield County. Malta House is also the only transitional living program in the state of Connecticut where a mom can stay with her baby for long-term support and a “hand-up” as she journeys to independence and hope. Residents of Malta House participate in educational programs covering issues of Health, Nutrition, Parenting and Child Development. During their stay at Malta House, mothers also receive guidance designed to foster a positive self image for themselves and their children. Personal finance and budgeting advice is offered to promote self sufficiency as our young families assimilate back into the community. In addition, each resident participates in an individualized educational component that may include GED preparation or certificate programs at a local community college. We also offer tutoring to support the rigors of each class. The Malta House Nursery/Childcare Program serves Malta House children aged 0-3 years old. Malta House receives many generous donations of baby equipment, clothing, diapers and food. Our alumnae always know they can find help and hugs when they or their children need it. As they transition to independent life, our Partnering Success Program provides ongoing follow-up assistance such as counseling, childcare, housing subsidies and transportation.
