The Women’s Shelter opened in December 2015 as a cold-weather shelter, and has since become a safe haven and home for homeless women in Downtown Anchorage. The Women’s Shelter houses fifty women each night, year-round. Dinner, prepared by Feed Me Hope Culinary Students, is served in the early evening while the women color, read or set up their beds for the night. Showers, laundry and basic toiletries are also available to the guests during shelter hours. The Women’s Shelter opens at 5:45 pm for check-in.
