Description
Building safe futures: YWCA Dayton has been supporting survivors of intimate-partner violence since 1886, when we petitioned the Ohio General Assembly for better legal protection for women against assault. Every day, we continue to advocate for women and childrens safety and freedom from abuse. All services are free, confidential, and available 24/7/365 for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, and other forms of intimate-partner and gender-based violence. YWCA Dayton is a dual-service agency providing:
The only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble counties
The longest-running 24/7 crisis and domestic violence hotline in Montgomery County and the only such helpline in Preble County
Full-service wrap-around clinical services and prevention education
Emergency Shelter:
YWCA Dayton shelter services offer a wide variety of programming grounded in Trauma Informed Care that walks alongside women and children to improve their personal safety, build self-sufficiency, and re-enter the community with strength and security. We operate two domestic violence shelters, one in Montgomery County and one in Preble County.

In addition, we know that abuse affects the whole family. More than half of domestic violence victims are reluctant to leave their abusers because theyd also be abandoning their pets. Thanks to community partnerships, YWCA Dayton connects women entering our domestic violence shelters with concurrent animal shelters so the whole family can heal. Partners include:
SICSA Pet Adoption Center
Humane Society of Greater Dayton
Town and Country Veterinary Clinic
Tipp City Veterinary Hospital
Case management:
Case management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy. Each case management plan is tailored specifically to the needs of each individual and family and includes:
Housing assistance
Transportation assistance
Employment assistance
Childrens activities and after-school tutoring
Advocacy and referral services
Appointment accompaniment
Aftercare services
Intake Requirements
Food Services
Educational Services
Job/Training Services
