Description
Shelter and Housing:
The Dorothy Bing Inn Shelter provides temporary shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. Residents are given housing, access to childcare, food and other necessities, in a safe, caring environment.
Our Tricia's Court Apartments provide a transitional housing opportunity for those successfully progressing during their stay in the 90-day shelter. Transitional housing grants a level of independent living while still working within our program in preparation for fully independent living in the community.
Permanent Supportive Housing is provided on a very limited basis upon referrals from Catawba Mental Health Services to women deemed chronically homeless.
Emergency Shelter & Housing:
The intake process for our shelter may take some time and effort on the client's part. The Dorothy Bing Inn Shelter can provide 90-days in a safe, caring environment. Extensions can only be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Executive Director.
Tricia's Court Apartments are the on-site apartment units at Pilgrims' Inn. Tricia's Court provides transitional housing opportunities to our clients and permanent, supportive housing opportunities for individuals with a mental health diagnosis that have been identified as chronically homeless.
Entry into these units via the Transitional Housing Program requires a client to have successfully complete a 90-day stay in our shelter. Apartment placement is determined by availability as apartments are limited.
A client entering our Transitional Housing Program will sign a one year lease with additional independence planning requirements, such as maintaining a job, completing a GED, or entering college. The Social Services Coordinator regularly works with these clients to achieve all set goals and ensure positive movement.
