Women 21 years of age or older can call for service options; no boys over 11 years of age are accepted.
The New Orleans Women's Shelter's (NOWS) mission is to enable women and their children to transition out of homelessness and poverty into a stable and productive lifestyle. To realize this mission, NOWS seeks to:
1) Operate a resource rich, safe, empowering environment for women to make a new future for themselves and their children.
2) Assist women in transitioning from homeless to independent living. NOWS reaches these goals by providing case management, counseling, employment search assistance, and educational services while stressing and supporting personal responsibility. NOWS can house 20 women and their children at any one time.
